Pumps, Sumps and Water Movement...

The flow of the tank is currently not complete. It is running a Blue Line 70HD for the return pump, an Ocean Runner 6500 for a closed loop, a Vortec MP40 as well as two Korila 4 pumps. Not to mention the Eheim 1248, 1262, MJ1200's and other pumps that make the system go.

A multitude of pumps is used to get water moved around the system.

A Blue Line 70HD/Panworld 200PS is used to as a sump return. It is estimated that approximately 900-1000gph is being pushed through the system and sump from this pump.

Initially the Panworld/Blue Line pump was being used for the closed loop. Recently I replaced this pump with a Ocean Runner 6500 and moved the Pan World to the sump return.

The most recent purchase was a Vortec MP40 powerhead and battery backup. I elected to purchase one in order to give it a test run. So far it has worked flawlessly and I intend to purchase another one soon. The battery backup has already worked twice during power outages. The longest one was about seven hours.

The Vortec really blends into the tanks black walls.

The system uses an Eheim 1262 for the skimmer feed, a 1248 for the fuge feed and two Gen-X 6000 NWs for the skimmer. A few other pumps such as MJ1200s are used for the kalk reactor, PO4 reactor and carbon filter when used.

The sump is a 125 gallon AGA tank that I had for several years prior to turning it into a sump.

Here is a perspective shot in the wetroom during construction.
